Lots of players come and go from the NHL. Some are remembered for being very good and some a remembered for the opposite reason. This list is going to go over the best NHL players that played in the 2000s

These players will be ranked by how good they have done in the NHL..






7. Evgeni Malkin





Malkin was drafted in 2004, right after Ovechkin. He plays with the Penguins as a Center. He has played in 906 games getting 416 goals and 660 assists. Malkin is a 1x Ted Lindsay award winner, 2x art ross trophy winner, 1x hart and conn Smythe trophy winner, and a few more. Malkin is known for being an effective faceoff winner and being a good leader for others.





6.Joe Sakic



Sakic was drafted in 1987 to the Quebec Nordiques (soon to be renamed Colorado Avalanche). He played in a total of 1378 games and scored 625 goals and a whopping 1016 assists. He is a 1x Hart memorial trophy winner, 1x Conn Smythe trophy winner, 1x best nhl player ESPY award winner, and a few more. He may not have as many awards as the others but he is often referred to as one of the best Centerman in NHL history






5.Martin Brodeur



Marty Brodeur was a goalie in the nhl from 1991-2015. He played for the Devils for most of his career and then was traded to the blues. Brodeur has played 1266 games and won 691 of them. He is a 7x allstar. Hall of famer, 4x vezina trophy winner, and 5x jennings trophy winner.







4.Steven Stamkos



Stamkos was drafted in 2008 and is still playing for the team that drafted him, Tampa Bay Lightning. He is a 2x Rockey Richard winner, 2x second team all star player and has played in six all star games. Stamkos has played in 803 games scoring 422 goals and having 410 assists.






3.Nicklas Lidstrom


Lidstrom was drafted in 1989 by the Redwings where he would stay until he retired in 2012. He played in a total of 1564 games scoring 264 goals and racking up 887 assists. He was a defenseman so not many goals are common. He is a 12x all star, 7x Norris winner, and 1x conn smythe trophy winner. He is often referred to as one of the best defenders in the game.







2.Sidney Crosby




“Sid the Kid” was drafted in 2005 to the Penguins. Crosby is a 2x Hart Memorial trophy winner, 3x Rocket Richard winner, 3x Ted Lindsay award winner, 2x Art Ross trophy winner and has won even more trophies. He is nearing his 1000th game being at 984 games played and scoring 462 goals as well as having 801 assists. Crosby is mostly known for his leadership skills being the Captain of the Penguins. As Well as being a great player








1.Alex Ovechkin





Ovechkin was drafted in 2004 and is still currently playing in the NHL for the Washington Capitals. He is a 1x Stanley cup winner, 9x Rocket Richard winner, 3x Hart memorial winner, 3x Ted Linsay award winner and he has won many more, He has played 1151 games in the NHL scoring 706 goals and having 578 assists. He is known for his rocket of a slapshot. Ovechkin has a great chance of passing Gretzky for most goals in the NHL.
