Rob Gronkowski, the former tight end for the patriots, announced his retirement on March 24, 2019. Everyone was so confused on why he would make such a decision until Gronk got into detail with some of his former teammates and news interviewers about his decision. The public is still upset and some are raving today. The Patriots will have forever lost one of the greatest players in Patriots history.
Before his career of being a professional football player in the NFL he played football and basketball in highschool. He was rewarded with many all-state awards as well. He attended the University of Arizona and in 2007 as a freshman he was probably the best on the football team. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the NFL draft in 2010. He was a great addition to the team and he became the first rookie of the patriots and the youngest rookie in NFL history to accomplish the feat. He broke the record of touchdowns in a single season as tight end.
Towards the end of his career he was not feeling playing football anymore. He suffered many injuries and he didn’t want to go through it anymore. He stated that he “was not in a good place”.
Gronkowski finally put an end to his career on March 29, 2019 at 29 years old. He told the news that he did not have the passion for football that he had when he first started his career. After the last super bowl, which the patriots won, he had come out and said he was suffering a bad quad injury and he was in so much pain that he decided to retire.
The patriots fans were mortified by his decision and hated the fact that he left the pats “high and dry”. The pats struggled for a little bit after he was gone because he was a key piece of the team and when he left they had a hard time recovering from that.
Gronk still keeps in touch with the pats. He has partnered with a CBD company and is living the dream now. Hes healthy, happy and loving his life now that he can finally focus on himself.
